   итал. оператор. В 1962 окончил Эксперим. киноцентр в Риме. Первый ф.- "Молодость, молодость" (1969). Снял ф. реж. Б. Бертолуччи - "Стратегия паука" (1970, с Ф. Ди Джакомо), "Конформист" (1970), "Последнее танго в Париже" (1972), "Двадцатый век" (1976), "Луна" (1979). Работы С. отличают чувство стиля, выразительность ракурсов, свобода движения камеры, он активно пользуется цветом и светом как компонентами драматургии фильма.
   Масштабность и эпич. размах характеризуют и его съёмки ф. амер. реж. Ф. Ф. Копполы "Апокалипсис сегодня" (1979, пр. "Оскар").
   Др. ф.: "Скандал" (1976), "Агата" (1977), "Красные" (1981, пр. "Оскар"), "От всего сердца" (1982) - все в США.
