• ФИЛДС У. К. (Fields) (наст. имя и фам. Уильям Клод Дьюкенфилд, Dukenfield)
(10.2.1879 - 27.12.1946)
   амер. актёр. Выступал на эстраде с комич. номерами, в 1915 - 21 работал в известном ревю Зигфелда. В кино с 1915 (ф. "Бильярдные мошенники"). Популярность на экране приобрёл в 20-е гг. ("Салли из опилок", реж. Д. У. Гриффит; "Итак, это ваш, старик"). В 30-е гг. выдвинулся в число лучших амер. комиков. Создал трагикомич. образ циника и мизантропа, подвергающего непочтительному осмеянию многие ценности бурж. общества. Среди лучших работ актёра в звук. кино - ф. "Большая радиопередача 1938 года" (1938), "Честного человека не обманешь" (1939), "Банковский сыщик" и "Мой цыплёночек" (1940). Выразительно сыграл эксцентричного персонажа Шалтай-Болтая в ф. "Алиса в стране чудес" (1934) и Микобера в ф. "Давид Копперфильд" (1935). Последний ф.- "Сенсации 1945 года" (1945). Автор или соавтор сц. многих ф. со своим участием. О Ф. снят кинофильм "У. К. Филдс и я" (1976, реж. А. Хиллер).
