(29.11.1895-14.3.1976)
   амер. хореограф, режиссёр. Получил известность брод-вейскими пост, мьюзиклов. В Голливуде с 1930 (хореограф). В 1933 дебютировал в режиссуре ф. "Ей пришлось сказать "да"" (с Дж. Эми). Б.- ведущий голливудский постановщик мьюзиклов 30-х гг., сыгравший значит. роль в становлении этого киножанра. Лучшие его работы как хореографа в ф. др. режиссёров - "Кики" (1931), "42-я улица" (1930) и "Римские скандалы" (1933). Реж. работы: "Золотоискательницы 1935 года" (1935), "Мужчины - такие глупцы" (1938), "Восстание ребят" (1939), "Для меня и моей з девушки" (1942). В его хореографич. композициях выразительность танца усиливается при помощи кинематографич. средств - движущейся камеры, неожиданных ракурсов, эффектных декораций.
